DIY: Picture Frames


For this activity, we will be making a fun picture frame using popsicle sticks, glue, and any other decorative materials you have around the house, such as pipe cleaners, buttons, beads, yarn, stickers, or glitter. Have fun and get creative!

Materials List

  • Colored popsicle sticks 
  • White glue
  • Pipe cleaners* 
  • Buttons*
  • Glitter*

*You can replace pipe cleaners, buttons, glitter, with other decorative alternatives such as ribbons or yarn. *You can use other decorative materials like beads or stickers.


  1. Optional: Wrap one pipe cleaner around a popsicle stick. Do the same to another popsicle stick. (1:00)
  2. To make the outer frame, put a dab of glue on each end of the 2 decorated popsicle sticks and glue 2 more popsicle sticks onto the ends to make a square. (2:03)
  3. At about a popsicle width apart from its end, add a dab of glue on the plain popsicle stick. (2:53)
  4. Glue 2 more popsicle sticks onto the glue to make the inner frame. (3:15)
  5. Optional: Repeat steps 3 and 4 to complete the inner frame. (3:38)
  6. Optional: Glue buttons on the frame for decoration. (4:30
  7. Optional: Make zig-zags with glue on the frame and add glitter for decoration. (5:02)
